Flavorful and fun, these French Dip Sliders are an easy appetizer, lunch, or dinner that the whole family will enjoy. Made with simple ingredients and served with warm au jus for dipping!
In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 3 tbsp butter. Add the onions and cook for about 12-15 minutes until soft and browned, stirring occasionally.
Add the thyme, salt, and pepper to the onions. Stir to combine. Remove from heat and set aside.
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Slice the rolls in half horizontally, keeping them connected. Place the bottom half cut side up in an 11x7 baking dish.
Layer half of the provolone cheese, followed by the roast beef, caramelized onions, and the remaining cheese. Place the top of the rolls on top.
In a small bowl, stir together melted butter and onion soup mix. Brush or pour this mixture over the tops of the rolls.
Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake an additional 5 minutes to brown the rolls.
Meanwhile, prepare au jus according to the package directions using 3 cups water. Serve the sliders with parsley garnish and au jus on the side for dipping.
Notes
Dried thyme can be used in place of fresh (use half the amount). Provolone or mozzarella both work well for this recipe. Sliders can be frozen before baking. Au jus adds great flavor but is optional.
